Piya Trivedi

Pia Trivedi

After scorching the fashion world with some hot and sexy campaigns, model Piya Trivedi is now looking at newer avenues, specially the small screen. She will be seen in a new avtaar — as a VJ on the telly. Says the live-wire Piya, ‘‘I’m sure that VJ-ing will be a breeze, for I am basically wild and naturally sexy. For this job, one needs to have two requisites — an ear for music and a great attitude. And I have a plethora of both.’’

Ask her the difference between modelling and VJ-ing and she laughs, ‘‘To some extent, they are the same, for, on the ramp and in front of the camera it’s your eyes and body that speak and convey your attitude. However, on the telly, I have to be quick on the take. Of course, I’ll strive to avoid the unnecessary babble and create a style that is sexy, yet friendly, and let good music take care of the rest.’’

And what is it about TV that excites her the most? Says Piya, ‘‘What I just can’t get over about the small screen is its enormous and instant reach. And the instant feedback too. What’s terribly exciting is that you cannot afford to make mistakes on camera. You have to be spontaneous and cater to an array of music that you may not necessarily relate to, but yet, need to know all there is to know about it.’’

So no butterflies in the stomach as she transits to the VJ hot seat? ‘‘None at all. I am due to shoot soon, and frankly, I can’t wait to get started with it all.’’

What about the men in her life? Piya smiles, ‘‘I have no one special in my life right now. However, I would like my man to be caring and sensitive with large doses of a great sense of humour. And yes, he must be willing to take a walk on the wild side with me.’’

Despite VJ-ing becoming a full-time act, the Mumbai lass is determined to continue with her modelling too. ‘‘I have some top-end commitments which will obviously go on.’’

And what of the inevitable next step from TV — to movies? ‘‘Well, there are some interesting offers I am looking at. But, I am taking time to decide on that.’’ So, do we see her in item numbers? ‘‘Heck no. However, I would love to redefine item numbers. If a good one comes my way, I’ll be game for it. If the song has tinkle, rest assured, I will sizzle.’’
