Rang de basanti aka paint it yellow is one of the few movies in recent history to have not only gathered huge critical acclaim but also set the cash registers ringing. I myself can vouch this fact as i tried to get tickets for this movie unsucessfully for two weeks in nearby cinema halls.
Rarely does a hindi movie come across with the lead charachter being the script/story itself rather than the cast. There is something just right about this movie, the music, the charachters , the situations blends in perfectly with each other which is a rare feat. Rarely does one come across movies on partiotic themes which do not verge in jingositic nationalism. All the charachters seem to come out of everyday people rather than set for a hindi movie. One can identify with each one of the charachters. A special mention must go to the cinematography , the colours, the angles , everything seems perfect.
All of the cast has done a commendable job - Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Siddharth,Alice Patten, Sharman Joshi.
Special Mention has to goto alice patten , usually whites in hindi films are sterotyped caricatures which rakesh avoided & put her in as a charachter , she did a great job & loked mindblowing.

Rating - 4* out of 5*
