When she started out in tarzan the wonder car , she was extremely cute, bollywood had a young teenage heroine finally to potray those roles, but gradually she started putting on a little weight, yes it made her cute somewhat disproportionately perhaps but it did, gradually from chubby she moved on to fat , and she stayed there, in dor i could swear she looked like bursting anytime, in her latest movie no smoking it was no different again, in this age where everyone is running into gyms to keep fit, someone like ayesha who is in the 'glamour' industry should surely have kept her weight in check & hired a personal trainer, its just the long hair now otherwise she will be easily mistaken for govinda. She is in serious need for some weight loss / liposuction surgery anything to get rid of that fat which no longer is baby fat.

Saawariya bombed at the BO, while it may not be a great movie (just like any other of bhansali's movies) saawariya was in no way a bad movie & for me the one thing that really stood out was rani mukherjee's potrayal of a prostitute. She is surely getting better & better at it, after all it is her 3rd attempt. While mangal pandey had rani as a prostitute back in the late 1800, laga chunari mein daag had her potraying a very modern prostitute, with Saawariya she raises the bar further. The street prostitute role was magnificently potrayed by kareena kapoor in chameli, she had got the language, dressings, mannerims just perfect, just that she didnt look like one though. Rani Mukherjee fits the character here to the T. Saawriya was promoted as a ranbir - sonam movie, but rani has a big role to play in this one , but the promos had absolutely nothing of her. They shouldve had a promo with just rani in it , in those transparent sarees mouthing those dialogues & the movie wouldve overtaken OSO. There is a rani fan in everyone , perhaps after madhuri dixit , rani is the only actress who is popular among every section, gender, class of the society.
Full marks to sanjay leela bhansali for having excellent dialogue writing for gulab of saawariya (rani mukherjee) dialogies like "jab bhi dhanda accha hota hai yahan aakar aksar angrezi sharaab peeti hoon, accha lagta hai" speaking like a drunk woman in her husky voice added to the appeal more, kudos to sanjay leela bhansali.

Strangely one person who is not is jimmy shergill who refused to kiss nandana sen in the movie strangers that has to be the height of gayness. Btw im liking this movie, sonali kulkarni too has done some bold scenes apparently , atta girl. Hadnt seen her doing anything like this after being naughty with Nirmal Pandey in "Jahan tum le chalo" that mustve left some serious mental scars on the poor girl , err then again she also had a scene with nana patekar in Taxi No 9211.

Besides the award winning & critically acclaimed films screened at the best film festivals all over the world, adoor comes across as a much humbler man, while bollywood directors oversell & market utter thrash under the garb of cinema & then go on defending it , adoor makes a movie every few years which makes you just stand up and take notice , there are no marketing gimmics or the need for huge productions, just plain good cinema. His cinema is rooted firmly with his native kerala but it works at such multiple levels that movies are very much universal in their significance. His latest offering is a set of four short stories titled Naalu Pennungal (Four Women) , the film explores and captures the gamut of emotions of women from various stratas of society. It is a cinematic treat from one of the masters of indian cinema.

Shilpa shetty has been hogging much of the limelight for Miss Bollywood , Anusha Dandekar has been grossly neglected by everyone. Exotic unconventional looking , anusha actually looks like a typical konknashta brahmin girl, fairskinning light eyed , perhaps thats why the firgangs didnt take much of a fancy to her, shilpa on the other hand post big brother is a household name in the UK. Anusha plays the fiesty Riya in this musical opera. She hasnt really done many movies , although she was noticed in the mumbai matinee item number "loot gaye" and her groovy moves seem to have landed her a role in Miss Bollywood. One of my favourite VJ's on MTV India , anusha has a crazy aussie accent which actually goes with her exotic looks , while most other vj's seem to be faking an accent (with the exception of the delectable lola kutty ;) )
