Shonal Rawat

Shonal Rawat

Shonal Rawat. The words “statuesque” and “Indian” don’t normally go together, and the last time we could put those words in the same sentence in describing an Indian beauty queen was when Yukta Mookhey won Miss World four years ago. Now, we could use “statuesque Indian” again with this utterly stunning 5’11” lady, who got the media in a tizzy when she appeared. She also displayed a supermodel diva-esque stage presence, and considering she won Miss Talent with a Bollywood-style dance number, she also proves that tall people could dance. She looks like the front-runner for the title.

Interesting note: she was a “mere” semifinalist in this year’s Miss India pageant, and originally the 1st runner-up Parmita Katkar was slated to compete here. It seems the Femina Miss India Organization’s switch strategy is going to pay off big time. With the awe-inspiring impression she made at the press conference, it made me wonder why did Nikita Anand (and even the other winners) beat this lady back in January? It would also make a little “poetic” sense considering that this is the last year of GMA’s involvement that this lady should take the title—remember that another Indian, Diya Mirza Handrich, won during the last year of Carousel Production’s involvement this pageant three years ago.in

She is also a pretty decent actress, seen her in a couple of shows on SAB tv, she has amazing comic timing , if anything at all goes against her is her height, 5'11 is just too tall on screen.
