Oh yes I must confess I am a bit partial towards Rani Mukherjee .. she looks stunning & acts even better , she is just heads & shoulders above anyone else in the industry, Id go as far as to say she is the only actress after Madhuri Dixit to be a complete actress.

Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat was the debut of Rani Mukherjee , she had a more or less bold entry into hindi cinema, the movie had a rape scene of hers & there were obvious titillating dialogues & smooch scene (quite rare in the 90's) and finally a scene where she is bitten by a snake and for no reason she is lying down on the floor in just a blouse (Co star Shadaab Khan) . Produced by salim, its interesting to note Salim also had her desareed again in another movie produced by him titled "Mehndi" with "Faraaz Khan". Another interesting factoid - Rani Mukherjee was raped once again on screen by Shadaab Khan in Kamal Hassan's magnum opus "Hey Ram"

This was at an awards ceremony a few years back where rani had won the award for Best Actress for her black performance. Have to hand it to her at public appearances no one looks as good as her always impeccably dressed. She looked stunning as always in a yellow saree here & no one could keep their hands off her. This was pre aishwarya days for abhishek , so one can see the ample amount of chemisty between the two, how she goes to abhishek for a quick hug as soon as she gets off the stage. They mightve gone their separate ways now but many people would love to seem them on screen together again. It seems unlikely though as rani has stopped signing any new movies & is rumoured to tie the knot with YRF head honcho aditya chopra.

Saawariya bombed at the BO, while it may not be a great movie (just like any other of bhansali's movies) saawariya was in no way a bad movie & for me the one thing that really stood out was rani mukherjee's potrayal of a prostitute. She is surely getting better & better at it, after all it is her 3rd attempt. While mangal pandey had rani as a prostitute back in the late 1800, laga chunari mein daag had her potraying a very modern prostitute, with Saawariya she raises the bar further. The street prostitute role was magnificently potrayed by kareena kapoor in chameli, she had got the language, dressings, mannerims just perfect, just that she didnt look like one though. Rani Mukherjee fits the character here to the T. Saawriya was promoted as a ranbir - sonam movie, but rani has a big role to play in this one , but the promos had absolutely nothing of her. They shouldve had a promo with just rani in it , in those transparent sarees mouthing those dialogues & the movie wouldve overtaken OSO. There is a rani fan in everyone , perhaps after madhuri dixit , rani is the only actress who is popular among every section, gender, class of the society.
Full marks to sanjay leela bhansali for having excellent dialogue writing for gulab of saawariya (rani mukherjee) dialogies like "jab bhi dhanda accha hota hai yahan aakar aksar angrezi sharaab peeti hoon, accha lagta hai" speaking like a drunk woman in her husky voice added to the appeal more, kudos to sanjay leela bhansali.

Aamir & Shahrukh on screen together , a possibility ?

Its like the kamal hassan - rajnikanth story, both equally powerhouse performers down south, one started off as a hero while the other like a villan , very much as was the case of aamir & shahrukh khan. The former did work with each other in their initial days , however aamir & shahrukh have never shared screen space together. Aamir even refused to do the dance sequence in om shanti om , perhaps its the insecurities or the comparisons , but the people would really want to see them on screen together , especially with rani & kajol. Mani ratnam is almost pulling off an kamal hassan - rajnikanth starrer, will there be any production house in bollywood big enough to pull in the bollywood superstars ?

Rani of late has been doing just a couple of movies every year , that too mostly of the yashraj or yashjohar camp. The last few have been duds KANK & TRRP. Sanjay Bhansal's Saawariya has her in an special appearance ..the stars of the movie being ranbir kapoor & sonam kapoor , although rumor has it that their special appearance (salman khan) will be more than just a small guest role. The other interesting movie rani is Pradeep sarkar's Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007), its a pretty bold subject about how a middle class girl becomes a prostitute , the yash camps seem hell bent to making movies on serious adult subjects thus betraying their fan following who is more into sugary cinema than anything else.

Rani Mukherjee was the special guest on the madhuri dixit episode of koffee with karan & it was just a 10 min appearance , maybe less but she stole off the show from madhuri, well rani is at her peak , the queen of bollywood , a title till a few years back was owned by madhuri dixit. Going by newsreports rani mukherjee is supposed to be engaged to film director aditya chopra. However YashRaj Films has denied the rumor though. Going by pure rumormill aditya was the one who gave rani a crying shoulder after abhishek dumped her for his trophy wife aishwarya rai. The chopras are the premier film family today & rani getting into the chopras would surely have done a one up on aishwarya rai , then again .. heres aditya chopra.

Preity - Rani - Best Of Friends ?

There is this myth of preity rani being the best of friends , probably stemming from the fact that they did a couple of movies together. However since both being of the same peer group, both have been competing for more or less the same roles.
However both were displeased on their roles lenght in yashraj's veer zaara, then there was the case of preity takin in salam namaste from rani and rani doing the same in bunty & babli.

Cant help feeling rani mukherjee got 2nd place. She might be the hottest "actress" on the scene right now , the numero uno of the bollywood film industry loved as much as for her looks as well as talent. There were rumours, and let me tell you there is no smoke without fire , her linkup and marraige with abhishek bacchan seemed very much on the cards , till a certain miss world struck. Cant help but feel poor rani. But professionally she is doing really well , what if she couldnt have the bachchan bahu tag.

TV Caps of Rani Mukherjee at the 52nd Filmfare Awards For 2006 , well she visibly isnt her usual cheerfull self as you can see for yourself , might i add a tinge of sadness in her.
