Sheetal Malhar / Sheetal Mallar

She stands tall at 5'10". Though weighing in at just 57 kgs, supermodel Sheetal Mallar is quite a heavyweight in the fashion world.

Her journey into the world of glamour took off when she was crowned 'Face of the Year' in 1994 by Femina.

She was also among the 12 finalists in the Elite supermodel contest held in the same year.
he face of Maybelline cosmetics, Sheetal was not always the picture-perfect clotheshorse that she is now. Ace photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha got her her an assignment with Danabhai Jewellers. This was followed by campaigns like LG Electronics, McDowells and Gold Flake and there was no looking back for this leggy beauty.

rediff.com got this busy model and got her to throw light on the good, bad and the ugly in her life.

Good: Does not smoke. Drinks only socially and tries to be in good shape. Does not enjoy wearing make up. Does not make a fuss on the ramp about wearing clothes she does not like. Says it would be rude to say no to the designer.

Bad: Tries to work out regularly, but normally not possible because of her hectic lifestyle.

Ugly: Uncomfortable wearing transparent garments and showing butt!

Psst... psst: Does not use Indian beauty products.

Sheetal Mallar thinks indian men arent expressive enuogh

Sheetal Malhar, model: I think Arbatova is in love, which is why she feels everything is so rosy. Men are men and it doesn't matter if they're Indian or otherwise. Whether or not they'll make good husbands depends on the individual.

A lot also depends on the way one has been brought up. Personally speaking, I feel Indian men are not very expressive.

She is dusky, lithe and has onein-a-million smile. This Helen, if she can be called so, can launch a thousand ships too. That's Sheetal Malhar, the stunner who is creating ripples in the fashion world.

Agreeing that being fair has an advantage with Indian clients, Sheetal says that she has "learnt to accept" the fact that when it comes to advertising beauty products the fair skin will win the show. "This, however, is not an issue in the West," she adds.

Not one to mince words, Sheetal agrees that having the international tag definitely has its share of advantages. "Initially, it does help one get work. But from then on, it is how you work that makes all the difference," Sheetal gives the facts straight on your face.

At a time when models are making a bee-line for Bollywood, here is one headstrong girl who wants to keep away from the industry. "I am still not interested in it. I don't think there are any nice projects. I can give Bollywood a thought only if the offer is fabulous and the film is good," Sheetal clarifies all doubts.

She, however, gets a trifle irritated when you question her about the Kabhie Bhi Kahin Bhi venture. "It was never released," she puts an end to any further queries in that direction.

Is it a trifle exhausting having to look good all the time, we wonder. "It is," Sheetal confesses without much ado.

"The next career I choose will be something which has nothing to do with looks," she quips. Sheetal, however, has not restricted herself to the ramp. She is an avid animal lover and has done a campaign for PETA.

"There have been countless occasions when I have brought strays to my friends' homes. I love dogs," she puts in adding that even her brother and sister share her pet passion. Now that's what we call being truly warm hearted!

This ramp model gets fiercely defensive when asked about her personal life. "I would not like to take any questions on that. I don't like to disclose my personal life," Sheetal signs off.

Sheetal Malhar - The Butterfly Tattoo

Sheetal Malhar
Sheetal Malhar

What's your style quotient all about ?
For me comfort is basic, nothing comes before that. I feel that one should dress according to one's personality and also the climate.

Your perfect eveningwear and casual statement ?
For a glam evening, it'll be a nice little stylish dress. Track pants and jeans make up my casual wear for a relaxed and chilled look.

Your recommended style for hair?
I like long hair, you can experiment with it and sport a lot of different styles. In hair colours, I like dull shades like browns and detest the shiny golden shades.

Five accessories that you can't do without?
For me there are only two accessories that I can't do without, my bags and shoes. They're both absolute musts for me.

Shoes - Three must-haves in your collection?
Tennis shoes, chappals and sandals, all of them are very comfortable and they look stylish too.

How much of peek-a-boo is right for you?
There is nothing wrong in showing skin but if a person goes over the top and does it deliberately then it looks bad.

Your biggest fashion disaster?
Never ever, I always take care as to what I'm wearing and how I'm looking.

Your fashion no-no?
I stay away from heavy jewellery and ornate, in-your-face clothes.

Your style icon - who and why?
Gwen Stefani, I find her very stylish and hot.

Your favourite Indian fashion designer?
There are two, Rohit Bal and Tarun Tahiliani. They're both so original and immensely wearable.

Sheetal Mallar - GORGEOUS!!!!!!!

SUPERHOTTIE!!!!!!!! Sheetal Mallar !!!!!!!!!!

Height: 175 cms

Weight: 57 kgs

Bust: 34 inches

Waist: 25 inches

Hips: 36 inches

Hair: Reddish-brown

Eyes: Black

Zodiac: Taurus

Update: Sheetal Mallar loves multi-tasking -- she's a hugely successful model, a businesswoman (she and her Italian husband Mose Navarra run a trading company) and a painter. And if that's not enough, she is now seriously considering joining the model bandwagon in Bollywood. All she's waiting for is a 'good banner, a good director and good money'. Some things, though, remain the same… Sheetal's favourite labels are still Armani and Prada.

Sheetal Malhar

Indian Supermodel Sheetal Malhar , yup the one who beat madhu sapre herself to win Femina Look of the Year 1994. A ramp queen in her own right she kept away from the bollyood bandwagon for long , perhaps the good offers never came and perhaps the money wasnt good enough. However She has signed Padam Kumar's Kabhi Bhi Kahin Bhi. The movie also features Dino Morea, Ashish Choudhury and Diya Mirza. Not a A list movie in itself but i guess she need the money. She looked great in a music video she did which was a remix of the song "raat akeli hai"

Traditionally bollywood prefers tried & tested actresses rather than models, miss indias or even miss world for that matter. Miss World Diana Hayden started out with skin flick with b lister actors (ab bas) , Miss World Yukta Mookhey had it no better with some obsucre b listers (pyaasa), miss indias tanushree dutta & miss world priyanka chopra had to start out with steamy scenes for their breaks. Even the great Aishwarya Rai herself had to do aur pyaar hogaya as a first where a cranky rahul rawail who was never ever really top of his game ever.
