Hot new face: This engineering graduate was first seen in the Kingfisher calendar at the beginning of the year. After a little coaxing from her model sister Shamita Singha, she got down to creating a portfolio for herself. “I couldn’t see myself doing a 9 to 5 job and I started modelling for the fun of it, but absolutely love it now. The spotlight, people, glamour – it’s simply fantastic!” she says.

Lights…camera…AbHishek: Mashoom’s been part of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2006 (WLIFW), was in the Mirinda commercial with Zayed Khan and now plays a journalist in the Motorola Sliver advertisement with Abhishek Bachchan. “He’s very focused. He lightened up spirits, kept cracking jokes and saying crazy one-liners,” she gushes about AB’s baby.

Ramp rules: She simply loves being on the ramp, sashaying down in “awesome” clothes. “When I get into Rohit Bal’s clothes, I feel majestic. He really makes you feel like a queen,” she says. About the Moschino fashion show, she says, “They’re very professional and had a casting for everyone including top models.”

Soul sister: After WLIFW, Shamita and Mashoom took off to Thailand on a back-packing trip. “After a hectic fashion week, we picked up a Lonely Planet guide and explored small islands, went scuba diving and did other super fun things!” she grins. An outdoorsy person, she enjoys river rafting. “I first went with a bunch of college friends and it’s addictive. I’d rather stay out in a little tent than in a hotel.”

Monroe magic: During the shooting of the Mirinda commercial, Mashoom had to walk the ramp while Zayed blew her skirt up a la Marilyn Monroe. “There I was with the camera and set crew around and my dress flying, and Zayed getting conscious…I kept telling him that I should be more embarrassed than him!” she smiles.
